This Scene Killed Me

......let me just say this.
This was the one scene in the whole of Bridal Mask that made me empathize so much I was all choked up on tears. This was the one scene, where I could not hold back my tears.

This was the one scene, where I understood completely what the character (or even actor, I would say) was feeling.

This scene, consists of potatoes.
Now Nelly might find that funny. *INSIDE JOKE*

Seriously, I will never look at potatoes the same way after watching this scene.

For the first time, Kang To met with Yang Baek who had come to Korea for a very important and risky agenda. Kang To met with him in a secret hideout, where they were served tea and boiled potatoes. I just realized that after his mother and brother's death, he was extremely lonely. He had this hole in his heart. It was that type of hole in your heart that could only be filled with the warmth of a family.

Evidently, after his brother and mother's tragic death, that hole was formed. Burned right through his heart clean.

He was handed a single peeled potato. He bit into it.

And the memories came flooding back into him. They lingered in his mind. And they tortured him. Who knew sweet memories like such could be so tormenting?

He remembered how he used to enjoy tea and boiled potatoes with his family, and how they used to joke around and talk.

Joo Won (Kang To) was totally spectacular in this scene. He had totally invested himself into this character during the shooting of this scene. Flawless.

He shed tears. I shed tears. The emotion was so hard to control and I empathized with the actor.

At this point, eventhough he was the knight in shining armor, this was the part where he had to put his heroic status on hold and let his emotions flow. This was the part where everything within him is being let out in the form of tears. This was the part where he was in turmoil.

This, I regard, one of the most touching scenes in Gaksital.

Softy's Comment:

At first I didn’t get where all her animosity went once she learned who K was, but now I understand. They live in a time where you just don’t hold grudges. You live each day knowing it could be your last. When you finally discover the young master you have been waiting for, you don’t dwell on the past and what he did to you cuz all that matters now is he is Gaksital. He is a hero for the Koreans and someone she has come to love. She thought a stranger was behind that mask so I guess it’s only right that she accepts him so easily into her heart since she has basically loved this guy from childhood. In a way, the tears she shed was from remorse. Just like he mistreated her in the past and regretted, tonight was her turn. Once she shed those tears, she washed away her hatred for him. The more people know about K’s identity as Gaksital, it gets more dangerous for him. But this is the one person I was hoping would know everything about how he became Gaksital cuz you just know that K’s road ahead is a little less scary knowing he has her by his side.

Now for some humor done by my fellow Gaksital fans.

This Is It.

Kang To said this: "Thank you for capturing me. That way I wouldn't need to kill you."

Those words echoed in my mind for a long time, but they barely stayed three seconds in Shun Ji's. For a moment he looked remorseful and for one second there was a hint of humanity in his eyes. But yet it was still extinguished the moment he recalls how Kang To mercilessly murdered his brother for revenge's sake. Eventhough Shun Ji was the brother of  Kang To's mother's murderer, Kang To still regarded him as a friend, his only friend. But Shun Ji on the other hand, he was befuddled by vengeance, and he still swore revenge on Kang To and would do anything to kill him. But I always thought that Kang To would still remain as a link to Shun Ji's humanity, but now, I can see that Shun Ji is beyond redemption. Shun Ji was actually capable of watching his only best friend get brutally tortured by his father in a cage full of nails, and he was actually enjoying the moment when Kang To was getting whipped countless times.
It seems that whatever memories Kang To and Shun Ji shared together as two best friends are now thrown into an abyss.

Their friendship has been completely destroyed, but at least Kang To kept the remaining shards of their friendship, and eventhough those shards are cutting and scarring his skin, he still held onto them whereas Shun Ji now views Kang To as an arch enemy, and he had vowed to tear him down.

The next two episodes will be aired next week. And we will see how things are going to wrap up in the upcoming finale.

R.I.P Shun Ji. You remained a loyal brother and son, but not a loyal friend.

You are dying, Shun Ji.
Not as a human.
But as a monster.

This post is too serious for any random facts.
Seriously.

Screencaps grouped together.

The end of episode 26: Kang To's attempt to kill Shun Ji's cruel father.

- I wonder if she’ll be better off if I leave her.
-What do you think is the one thing in a grown man’s life so precious that he must protect it with his life? I believe it’s love. I love Joseon, I love my hometown, I love my mother, my wife, my son. Watching those that I love be violated by the Japanese, how could I not feel rage? If you truly love Mok Dan, you put your life on the line to stay by her side and protect her, and fight the ones who would torment her.

-Kang To and Yang Baek

To be honest, I died a little inside watching this scene. Watching the way realization dawned on her face, seeing her eyebrows in such a heartbreaking angle, and how hot tears splashed down her cheeks, it was all very very gut wrenching. Mok Dan's father was all she ever had as a family, and now she lost him too. Kang To lost his family a while back, and this scene just proves how much they are in need of each other. If Kang To meets a tragic end, it's only merciful that Mok Dan dies with him, or else I don't think she can cope with her life afterwards.
Finale next week will decide both of their fates.

I actually found this scene scary, not sweet at all. The way they locked eyes on each other, you can see the fear in both of their eyes, fear that they might not see each other again. Mok Dan was particularly reluctant in this scene, as you can see. She lost her father, and now she fears that she might lose her young master.

To me, the above situation must be really hard for Rara. He was right in front of her, Bridal Mask, the masked vigilante. One bullet and he falls to the ground like a rag doll. But the trigger wasn't pulled. Because I'm sure that during that moment, she walked down memory lane, and went back five years. After what Kang To had done for her, she couldn't do it. She really loved him that much, to the extent where she was willing to face the aftermath of the situation if she decided not to capture or kill him. President Ueno warned her about it already once, telling her if she doesn't obey his words, she will have to put her neck out. (Meaning she will have to die.) But for Kang To, she was willing to take all of it.

That is what I admire about this beautiful character.

Now this is an unforgettable scene shared between these two compelling characters. Shun Ji and Rara.
Rara describes her understanding of Mok Dan's rejection of her offer to let Mok Dan and Kang To flee the country. She says how Mok Dan loved everything that entails Kang To being Gaksital. She says how Mok Dan loved Kang To as well as Gaksital, but as for her, she only loved the Imperial Officer Lee Kang To, the one that was burning with ambition for the Japanese Empire.

Shun Ji, on the other hand, is beginning to think things through. He began confessing to Rara, questioning his actions, questioning his ability to capture Yang Baek, Dong Jin and Bridal Mask/Gaksital. What if he fails? What will happen to him in the end? Those were his questions.
Tears began to well up in his eyes as he questions whether his life is being wasted away.
I must admit this scene made me feel sorry for Shun Ji. He was becoming the person he did not want to become.
But it was all for revenge.

With two more episodes left, I sincerely hope he and everyone makes it to the end. Alive. Grasping that iron flute of his.

Freaking Social Media

Hey, readers! Nelly here! Now, to get straight to the point. What is up with freaking addictiveness to social freaking media?! I mean, c’mon! Facebook? Twitter? MySpace? Friendster? And bunch of others. No harm getting accounts but there’s something called ‘abusing’. People these days – or should I say – retards these days are abusing social media! Instead of being brave & facing the freaking music or problems or enemies, they let everything out on the media. AND one misunderstood tweet/status/whatever can bring heck of harm. I’ve seen it and experienced it (I wasn’t the victim nor the person that started the fire but the person who watched friendship crumble). I ain’t trying to preach but I’m just warning you people to be careful. THINK before you tweet/post/update/whatever. Don’t just run your mouth – or in this case – run your, uh, brain? Fingers? But basically, you get the point. AND NEVER, I repeat, NEVER REPORT YOUR WHOLE FREAKING LIFE ON FREAKING SOCIAL MEDIA. They are creatures called predators that feed on things like these. They watch you & for the love of GOD, DON’T EVER POST THINGS LIKE, “Parents are out of town. Have the whole place to myself” or “Ugh! I hate my parents/siblings” & stuff along those lines. The reason for the latter; Predators observe you & use these things against you plus when you try to get a part time job or something (for elderly teens), the employer MIGHT decide to do some “background check” & MIGHT “come across” your stats & BAM! – you got no job. They might think you’re some fighter cock or something. So, in conclusion, just have brains and don’t post anything stupid. Thank you!

Tables Have Turned

Hey, hey, people! :D So sorry haven’t updated in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. Just got caught up with life. Any who, now you people can read, right (no freaking duh!)? Yea, so the ‘tables have turned’ brings many definitions. It could be literally, like when someone is mad and does this,

…or just a figure of speech. I’m not doing the literal meaning. Anyway, this post is kinda personal but it’s filled with honesty (that was what my Mood Sense app said on my iPod today, jokes aside). This incident really benefitted me. It was heck affective. Seriously. It started off when I heard a saying, ‘Treat your foes/enemies and friends all equal.’ And I was just like,

…yea. But then after what happened, I was just like,

So, there was this girl, I shall call her A (I’m concealing their identities to save their faces) and another girl called B. So, the equation is A + B = Friends. They knew each other since they were about 11, but weren’t in a same school. Finally, when they turned 13, they apparently enrolled in the same school (coincidence? I don’t think so, doubt it, nah). Anyway, at first both of them were like,

…and then halfway through the year, things got bad. Girl B started spreading rumors and talking bad and making up stories about Girl A. And Girl A didn’t do anything. No one knows why Girl B did that but some people added in their own opinions and factors, like jealously. And Girl A was just like,

"Wut?"
Then things got worse. Situations became awkward. Girl A was losing her closest friends. And whenever she hung out with them at lunch or break, she was just like,

…and her friends will just look at her and be all like,

…and,

…and also like,

So, basically, things got very sad. Girl A got VERY lonely. And finally, she silently blew up (no kidding, it happened). She complained to her teacher after a heart-stabbing incident by her closest friends. Her teacher told her to stay cool and all and so did her parents and blah, blah and she really couldn’t stand that convo anymore. She was just like,

…and was constantly forever alone.

Nevertheless, a new year came! She met an old friend from another class and they sat together and BOOM! They became best friends :D THE END!

Nah, I’m kidding. She still had problems. And unfortunately, her best friend was affected. But her best friend (Girl 786451685646485464) didn’t mind at all. Her best friend was amazingly supporting and patient. Girl A was lucky to have her. Then finally, the tables turned FIGURATIVELY even though occasionally Girl A wanted to literally flip the tables on Girl B and her traitorous friends and then walk away.

So, to cut the story short. Girl A is now having her time of a life. She got back her friends but is still best friends with Girl 786451685646485464, mind you. And everyone isolated Girl B and so did Girl A but then Girl A began to sympathise Girl B. And that’s when the saying hit her – like getting slam dunked!

So, Girl A decided to stop since she didn’t like to be treated like that. Now they’re still friends but there’s an advisable limit. So, people out there, just chill out. Things will turn out fine if you just learn to keep under the radar and well, listen. And learn to accept it, drop it and move on. That’s kind of my quotation. And like I mentioned earlier, I really benefitted. So, give it a try :) Thanks. ~Nelly
